Hey everyone! It’s been a while since we last spoke (it’s been super busy with uni work) but this post will be about L.O.V.E. Not just any kind of love but one of the most important types of love out there, SELF LOVE. I want to give you the best advice I can on the importance of self-love.
I heard two really great quotes the other day one being “No-one is you, and that is your superpower”. I really love this quote! We are all unique in our own way and that’s what makes us so special! The other quote was to “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” AMEN to that! It’s sometimes so easy to pour all of our love into others without realizing that we are not giving ourselves the same love. Self-love is something I have to practice every day and the moment I began practicing self-love is the moment I began to receive love in my life in every form imaginable.
A Prescription for Self-Love
Live life with purpose
I love to set goals and challenge myself. It keeps me motivated and I feel so happy when I finally accomplish something that I’ve been dying to achieve. Sometimes it doesn’t always go as planned but if you keep trying and believing in yourself then you can achieve anything! By working hard to reach your dreams, you are developing an appreciation and respect for yourself that no one else can give you!
Fall in love with yourself first
No-one will ever make you complete other than yourself. You have to learn to love who you are and embrace it. Others can sense when you have a love for yourself. No relationship ever is built to stand on an incomplete foundation.
Take out the trash!
Get rid of toxicity in your life. It’s really that simple, if it isn’t benefiting your mind, body or soul, then get rid!
We are all human beings and we all make mistakes. As humans we are our worst critics. We are not built to be perfect. Use every opportunity whether it be good or bad to learn and grow. Be gentle to yourself.
Self-care is NOT selfish! Taking care of your mind, body and soul is great. You are no use to others if you do not care for yourself. Self-care can be practised through a number of ways such as exercising, meditating, eating right, getting enough sleep, having a long relaxing bath. Whatever it is, devote some of your time to yourself.
Food for the soul
AKA positive affirmations. Just like a good breakfast, positive affirmation fuels your mind and spirit and set you up for the rest of the day. Why not try using sticky notes around your office space, bedroom, books wherever with words that inspire and motivate you. I use my phone background and change up quotes of imagery that keeps me inspired to either work out or cheer me up and keep me going throughout the day! Whatever works for you.
No one is you, and that is your superpower
Remember that quote! Don’t compare yourself to others! Everyone is different, and you are special in your own way! When you begin to compare yourself, think positively about yourself.
Be aware of what you’re thinking, feeling and saying as much as you can. When you catch yourself focusing on something negative, acknowledge it and turn your focus on to something positive. Focus on yourself and not on what others think of you.
So, there you have it! A self-love prescription from me to you! I really hope you enjoyed this post and I would really love if you shared your thoughts in the comments section. Share three things you love about YOURSELF!
Here is mine: 1) I love my adventurous streak (I love to travel and try new things), 2) I love my voice 3) I love my boobs
I look forward to hearing from you all!
Much love xo
